work on the mission trip

CC Life Communications

All of the youth group's communications are conducted online either through Facebook or through an e-mail group. Youth group members and their parents are highly encouraged to join the BUMC Youth Group Yahoo! e-mail group. If you do not already have a Yahoo! ID, you will have to register for a free Yahoo! ID before joining the group.

Please include the name of your youth in your request; this is a closed group limited to BUMC youth group members. You continue to use your existing email accounts, you can list multiple emails (e.g., work and home), and you manage email address changes yourself to keep them current. Once your request to join is approved, group members get email communications from youth group leaders.

Registered members can email all Yahoo group members by addressing the email to bumcyouthgroup@yahoogroups.com. (Note: You can send your message only from the email address you registered with Yahoo! Groups, and all messages are then manually reviewed by the moderators.)

CC Life

Our Program name stands for Christ-Centered Life - which we try to instill through all that we do. We have monthly CC Life gatherings, usually the second Sunday of the month, from 6:30 to 8:30pm. We have live music (provided by our youth band Actsent), team-building games and activities, a message by the Youth Pastor and small group discussions led by adult volunteers. CC Life is open for grades 6 through 12.

Mission Trip

The centerpiece of our program is our Summer Mission Trip. Each year the Senior High group (anyone who has finished 8th grade) goes away for a week with Group Workcamps. We charter a bus and travel to a community where we join with other church youth groups from around the country to help people in need with home repairs and small construction projects. Each day brings work-site devotions and a powerful evening Christian program.

2008 Mission Trip

Fundraisers

To raise money for our mission work, we have weekly donut sales, mis- sion trip stock sales and an annual car wash in the spring.

Fall CC Life Retreat

In November, the CC Life group travels to the Kalahari Water Park in Wisconsin Dells. It is a weekend of fun and a chance to get away from it all and fellowship together with God through our evening devotions. There is always something fun to do on the retreat.

Holiday Parties

We have Christmas and Easter celebrations as well as an "Autumn Costume Party".

Lazertag Lock-in

To close out the school year we rent out the whole Lazerquest for an overnight lock-in. We begin the evening with an Actsent concert at the church.

CC Life Olympics

Our mid-summer activity is an all-day Olympics held at Youth Pastor John Adams' home. The entire youth group (ranging from incoming 6th graders through CC Life Alumni) divides into four teams to compete in sports, games, bible trivia, video games, team cheers, etc.

Youth Service

Once a year (usually the same weekend as the Olympics) the Youth group conducts the entire Sunday morning worship service. This includes music by Actsent and the youth string quartet, drama, dance, and messages by select upper classmen.

Discipleship

Our High school group meets from 9:30 to 11:00 every Sunday morning. The program is centered on creatng disciples. Discipleship involves a variety of activities including live music, devotional sharing, as well as large and small group discussions.

Confirmation

Our confirmation program runs for two years during grades 7 and 8. The group meets for classroom sessions during the Sunday School hour. In addition, we have weekend retreats to Lake Geneva in the fall and spring.

YUM

Our Sunday morning Youth worship service takes place during the second half of the Church's main service (YUM goes from approximately 11:00 to 11:40). We have live music and then a "sermon song" - a powerpoint review of a contemporary Christian song. After listening, the meaning of the song is discussed in small groups, each of which then share their observations with the entire group. YUM is open to 4th through 12th grade.

God Buddies

We have a mentoring program whereby senior high students are paired with junior high students to be their "God Buddy" throughout the year. Once a month, on Sunday morning, we have an hour-long God Buddy Sunday. We also have God Buddy activities during CC Life and during our retreats.

College e-bible study

Various CC Life Alumni participate in an ongoing email bible study where we review different books of the bible and share interesting other readings and lessons which help in spiritual formation.

Alumni Reunions

We have gatherings for CC Life Alumni during Christmas break and after the college students return in the spring.

Overseas Mission Trip

In conjunction with True North Missions (a medical mission organization) we plan, in 2010, to go to Guatemala with a group of college and high school students and adult volunteers.
